Dr. Lambert received the M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Florida where he served as a postdoctoral research fellow and completed residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology. He received an M.B.A. from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts.
Dr. Lambert is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and by the commission on medical management. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions, American Heart Association, American College of Physicians and American College of Chest Physicians.
His research interests and publications have included basic myocardial energetics, cellular electrophysiology, pathophysiology of coronary disease, pharmacotherapy of cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology device development. Recent research interests have included study of ischemic heart disease in women and application of stem cell therapy in cardiac disease. Dr. Lambert has received continued research support from the National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, American Heart Association and many industry and private sponsors.
