Dr. Ijeoma Ekeruo is a cardiac electrophysiologist in Houston, at the Arrhythmia Care Center. After receiving her medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine, she received all her post graduate training at UTHealth, and has remained as faculty in the Department of Internal Medicine and division of Cardiology for eight years. She is now the medical director at the Arrhythmia Care center, and as an experienced cardiac electrophysiologist, she is excited by atrial fibrillation, relationships of arrhythmia to stroke, and conduction system abnormalities seen in structural heart disease. She is also very interested in medical education and was previously heavily involved in the residency and fellowship program in her home institution. She is now dedicated to doing the same internationally as part of the Cardiovacular education Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting cardiovascular education, research and patient care in underserved communities especially in sub-Saharan Africa. She is a passionate advocate of providing equitable health care, and serves as a member of the executive board of the Cardiovascular Education Foundation as well. In her free time, she cherishes lazy days enjoying the Houston heat with her husband and two children.
