Dominick Mariconda is currently the System Director for Quality & Safety at Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute. With 25 years of experience in cardiovascular care, he has been instrumental in advancing quality care and clinical outcomes for cardiovascular patients.
Dominick completed his undergraduate degree at Georgetown University, followed by his education at George Washington University, where he became a Physician Assistant (PA) with a focus on cardiac surgery.
He began his career at Yale as the first PA in cardiac surgery. After just two years, he was named Chief Physician Assistant and embarked on building a team of Advanced Practice Providers to cover all aspects of the care continuum 24/7. Dominick pioneered the endoscopic harvesting technique, revolutionizing patient outcomes and experiences following coronary revascularization surgery. Throughout his career, he has been passionate about medical education, actively involved in teaching, and training the next generation of residents and PAs.
After 18 enriching years at Yale, Dominick was recruited to join Hartford HealthCare to support the development of their Heart & Vascular Institute. This transition presented a fantastic opportunity for him to learn a new skill set in an administrative position. His strong clinical background positioned him well for his new role in Quality & Safety. For the past seven years, Dominick has dedicated himself to ensuring the effective integration of evidence-based medicine and best practices. His efforts have led to significant improvements in patient outcomes and garnered recognition for the institute.
